So, as of September 2017…I’m taking a completely different approach.
#LASTPASS FREE VS PREMIUM 2018 PASSWORD#
Password Manager’s are incredibly useful tools that I believe everyone who uses technology should avail themselves of. Maybe because as I’m working on carving out a niche for myself to have my own type of career online the world is providing me the tools to do my job well? I’m not entirely sure. I don’t know why but I find that fact reassuring. In many ways my blogging career’s growth sort of parallels that of the growth of the password manager industry. While they weren’t brand new…they were still in their infancy. I discovered Password Managers while using iPads. If you need more information to persuade you…just ask yourself why Microsoft themselves abandoned Internet Explorer! But the main point remains that there are so many options, and many of them are good ones, that those, coupled with a lot of people requesting that I include lessor known ones too…which I tried to accommodate…ultimately led to my mind just getting too overwhelmed to make this into the comprehensive password manager guide I’d originally intended it to be.Īs time progressed I did begin using a computer again (mine was finally fixed :-) I’d originally thought that when my use of computers resumed my choice of a browser would primarily be dictated by which one did a better job of securing my personal data and passwords. Because, fyi… no one should ever use Internet Explorer When that changed and I began using a computer again I knew that I’d need to decide between Chrome and Firefox as my primary browser. This meant I needed several iPads with large storage capacity that worked well. I relied entirely upon iPads to get all of my work done. I say ‘sort of’ because for several years I didn’t really use a computer at all. I’ve always loved the Firefox version up until the time that Firefox discontinued their ios app that is! Sadly, that’s when I was forced to drop Firefox. At one time Chrome didn’t have a good way of securing the passwords that they saved… but that’s no longer the case. In the past I’ve also used more than my share of browser-based utilities… Firefox primarily …but on occasion Chrome too.

Then there were the browser-based utilities. Or, for those of us who were less technically inclined…another great example was Word documents. Then too there were the tangential Password managers which weren’t strictly dedicated to one specific purpose…one example of this, Excel spreadsheets…were and still are used by a lot of the people. The problem was essentially there were just too many password managers and their landscape was constantly changing. When I first wrote this in January 2016, I became so utterly bogged down in all of the overwhelming minutia required to write a comprehensive overview of all the current Password Managers, that I essentially ended up just procrastinating away any bright future this post may have had. I’m refreshing this and updating much if the information in this post…but frankly, I’ve wondered if it’s even worth it given its abysmal state when I began.
